- Can you send proof of liability insurance? Ask for the certificate, not just a yes.
- How deep will you grind, and does the price include roots?
- What happens to the chips, and is haul-away or fill included?
- How will you protect my lawn, fence and sprinkler lines?
- What is the total price, in writing, before you start?
Red flags
- Pressure to pay a large deposit upfront.
- Cash-only with no written quote.
- No answer about insurance.
- A price that changes when they arrive.
