Stump removal in Tulsa

Most Tulsa yards are best served by grinding the stump below the soil line, not pulling it out. Here is how each option works and how to get a price.

What happens on the day

  1. The crew walks the yard with you and agrees which stumps, which roots and how deep.
  2. They move the grinder in. Tracked machines leave less lawn damage than wheeled ones.
  3. The cutter wheel works across the stump in sweeps, going down a few inches at a time.
  4. Chips are raked into the hole and a pile. Haul-away or fill soil is an optional extra.
  5. You walk the job and confirm before they pack up.

Have this ready

  • The width of each stump across the top, in inches.
  • How wide the gate or path is, in feet.
  • Where sprinkler lines, buried wires, pet fences and drains run.
  • What you want done with the chips.
Call 811 a few days before the crew arrives so public utility lines can be marked. The utilities do not mark private lines such as sprinklers, so show the crew those yourself.

Tulsa-area trees and what to expect

Old Bradford pears often have a wide, flared base, so the cut takes longer. Oak and elm stumps are dense and take slower passes. Redbud and most ornamental trees are quick. Tell us the tree type if you know it.

Questions

How long does it take?

About 30 minutes to 2 hours per stump, depending on width and roots. The crew sets up and cleans up on top of that.

Do I need to be home?

Usually only for the walk-through at the start and the check at the end. Leave gate access and tell the crew about hazards.

Will it damage my lawn?

Some. Tracked machines and plywood help. Ask the crew how they protect the grass and whether a fix-up is in the price.
